Life is a movie (take 2)

Yesterday I took a shot at my top five plus one movies. Perhaps I should have clarified that those were the five movies that I was thinking of at the time and would gladly watch on an idle Sunday evening, in no way an exhaustive list (although I am pretty sure I did that).

So, this morning I woke up with a message from my best man kinda scolding me for my selection. His “concern,” in short, was why would I ever pick Scott Pilgrim over other classics and cult films?

Well, I like Scott Pilgrim. And like I said before, I would gladly watch it last night. Maybe not tonight, but I would last night.

That said, I feel like I need an addendum with the films recommended by my best man:

  1. Raiders of the Lost Arc (1981)

  1. Fight Club (1999)

  1. The Empire Strikes Back (1982)

  1. The Big Lebowski (1998)

  1. Life of Brian (1979)

  1. The Godfather (1972)

  1. The Godfather: Part II (1974)

And a couple more of my own:

  1. Alien (1979)

  1. Apocalypse Now (1979)

  1. Good Will Hunting (1997)

  1. Good Morning Vietnam (1987)

  1. Platoon (1986)

  1. Cannonball Run II (1984)

  1. Spaceballs (1987)

So that brings us to a total of 20 movies (or 19 plus one if you like). And I am certain there’s plenty more for the two of us to sit there all night and talk about it. In fact, I am positive we will do just that next time we meet – as soon as the munchkins go to bed that is). And I promise I’ll post the list we prepare (we’ll try to keep it at under 50).
